How to save a shared gallery to your account
When someone shares an event or album with you, you can keep your own copy on your dashboard — so it's yours forever, even if the host later deletes the original.
What saving gives you
- Your own independent copy in your account
- Stays with you even if the host deletes the original
- Use Find Me on your copy as the new owner
- Edit, build sub-albums and share onward from it
- A frozen snapshot — the host's later edits don't change it
Good to know
A saved copy counts toward your own storage, just like events you create. If you only need the photos, downloading them is the lighter option — saving is for when you want to keep and work with the whole gallery.
Step by step
- 1
Open the shared link
Open the event or album link the host sent you while signed in to your Picsta account.
- 2
Tap Save to Dashboard
Use the Save to Dashboard button at the top. Picsta makes your own independent copy in your account.
- 3
Find it on your dashboard
Your saved copy appears in the Shared with you section, alongside events you created yourself.
Frequently asked questions
- Why would I save a shared gallery?
- So it stays with you forever. Even if the host later deletes the original event, your saved copy is unaffected — it's yours to keep, edit and share onward.
- What gets saved?
- Every photo that was visible to you when you saved. Face recognition re-runs on your copy, so you can use Find Me on it as the new owner.
- Do the host's later changes affect my copy?
- No. Your saved copy is an independent snapshot — future edits the host makes don't propagate to it.
- How do I remove a saved copy?
- In the Shared with you section, remove the saved event or album. The confirm reads Remove from dashboard, so you know the host's original is untouched.
